EyeLash Mites

What are EyeLash Mites?

The EyeLash Mites  is one of the many parasites that live on the human body without causing any substantial harm. Scientifically known as Demodex folliculitis, the parasite usually inhabits the eyelashes, nose and around the cheeks. We can live happily with these organisms living right under our skins while feeding on the excess oils produced by the skin glands. This condition is present in most persons as they become of age as no one person is born with them.

The entry of eyelash mites into the body is attributed to immunity problems. Body protection reduces with increase in age, and so does the prevalence of these parasites. They can easily find their way into the body when the antibodies are weakened. Eyelash mites are positioned on our faces and live under the hair follicles where they are nourished by the excess fats and oils secreted.

Humans tend to correlate well with these parasites, but they prefer a symbiotic relationship. Either of the parties tends to benefit from the relationship. People offer a place to live for the parasites while the latter support the relationship by cleaning excessive secretions.

High numbers of these parasites on the human skin are no bother until their effect is unleashed, but if you can endure without their adverse effects, your correlation is just beautiful. However, in some cases, the number of these mites tend to increase spontaneously to levels that are too high and quite alarming.

The eyelashes become infected. An infection of the eyelashes is indicated by continued itching of the lashes which is followed by swelling of the eyes. This is a condition that cannot be ignored and call for treatment by a physician. If the population of the mites precedes the number of hair follicles by far, it will result in the falling of the eyelashes.

Causes

Naturally, eyelash mites should relate symbiotically with the human face, where the all interact without depleting the ecosystem. However, this changes when the number of these parasitology organisms exceed the hair follicles that are supposed to sustain them.

This condition is scientifically known as Demodicosis. Demodicosis is a counter to the natural relationship between the human body and eyelash mites. This is an interruption of the symbiotic correlation that leads to the depletion of resources and eventual falling off of the eyelashes.

Until the condition has deteriorated to this level, you should not have any cause for alarm. However, there are certain circumstances that lead to the increase of these parasites in the human hair follicles. The ailment is rampant in America among the high number of women who sleep in their makeup.

Failure to wash it off before retiring to bed could be the main reason as to the increased infections. However, the condition is also common among persons who have very active secretory glands and produce large amounts of oils. This prompts the entry, growth, and multiplication of eyelash mites.

Proper hygiene must be maintained at all times to prevent the multiplication of these parasites on the face. Washing the face with water and soap helped get rid of hundreds of bacterial parasites that in turn would be dangerous to the body. The hygiene is passed on to the tools used for application of the makeup. The brushes and containers must be cleaned at all times to prevent the nourishment of bacteria and other pathogenic organisms.

Signs & Symptoms

Entry of eyelash mites into the human body is attributed to a weakened immunity. Eyelash mites are rampant among persons who lack a healthy immune system and therefore allow these parasites to find their way into the system. Individuals suffering from other chronic diseases may be at a higher risk of contracting the bacteria.

Upon their entry into the human body, these tend to flourish and multiply into large numbers making it impossible to remain unnoticed.

With time you should look out for the following symptoms.

  • Acne may be observable in patients harboring scores of eyelash mites. This is due to the acne waste they produce.
  • Rosacea also is brought about by the presence of these insects. Their waste products are liable for the swelling of the eyes.
  • Heavy infestation by the lash mites results in falling of the eyelashes.
  • Advanced stages of infestation may be characterized with Blepharitis. This is a classic case that renders the eye and its outer part swollen and painful.
  • The spread of the infection may spread beyond the eye; to other areas of the skin.
  • Another disorder to look out for bites marks left. This is scientifically known as demodicosis. A burning sensation is experienced especially in the early morning hours as the mites are resuming inactivity.

Treatment

Even after the eyelash mites have surpassed the standard threshold, there is still hope to get them off your face within little time. It is of due importance to keep the face moist and clean to reduce the level of infection of the mites.

The procedure that can be followed to bring this condition to an end entails:

  • Wash your face with new clean towels. This helps get rid of excess fats off the face as well as cleansing of the hair follicles.
  • Natural products are the best ideal when it comes to healing the pathogens. These go a long way in eliminating the bacteria from the face, though gradually but not immediately.
  • It is advisable to avoid application of makeups during this period of healing. This helps to maintain your face away from new bacterial infections that may be imminent. Make-ups harbor a lot of bacteria, and if left unchecked, the whole healing process could be rendered useless
  • Visit you dermatologist once in a while and get checked for any disease pathogens that may be present under the skin. The search can be extended to the diagnosis of pets and other persons living around us. Improving hygiene standards is the only way to begin the counterattack.

Prevention

  • Maintain hygiene at its best
  • Always get rid of old makeup before retiring to bed.
  • Have your pets diagnosed for presence of the condition

In conclusion, the relationship between you and the eyelash mites should remain symbiotic. Thy seek shelter in the hair follicles while they help clean out excess excretions. If this relationship changes, the repercussions are adverse as there is an imbalance between the mites and the hairs.

Increased populations lead to intoxication by the extra wastes they release in the system. This is what advances to result in loss of hairs. All in all, it is of due importance to always keep the face clean and free from all external applications and oils.
